The Israeli Uzi machine gun. Just one peripheral that will not be fitted to A1-DW. However, some robots come with them fitted as standard! See here .

  • New Pocket Projector

So leafing through the somewhat tedious pages of this month's T3 I stumbled upon one of their quickie product overviews for the Samsung P310 . This is a pocket projector capable of delivering a 63" screen at 800x600 res. The best bit is that at 127.2 (W) X 94.5 (D) X 50.8 (H) it will fit within...

  • Discovery of the day

Today is shaping up to be a glorious day of discovery. • Update 1st May

Last night I equipped A1-DW with the electronic compass and the sonar system I built. I managed to fit these inside A1's casing not wishing to deface the glorious look, which means for the moment I have to remove the back body panel from A1 to test the sonar system. Once I have ironed out the teething...

  • At the bottom of the garden, something stirs

Wow, it's been years since I had the soldering iron out to build something rather than just for house hold repairs. Well, with the final bits of components I didn't have in my last millennium box of tricks arriving this morning and the articles from Robot Electronics , I've been straight...

  • Robotic Speech control

Zeddy, a Microsoft Academic Developer Evangelist in Indonesia, has a nice demo of using Windows speech recognition to remotely control a robot. The application is running on a laptop which controls the bot wirelessly. The voice recognition happens on the PC and the instructions are translated into commands...
