Visual Studio 2010 Release Candidate available

It is really exciting to be so close to a product launch, but even more so when you anticipate a good product. The VS2010 team have really pulled out all the stops. Not just in feature implementations, but more importantly in listening. I don’t remember any product team being this available to take feedback.

The team listened to the feedback regarding beta 2’s performance and changed release plans to ensure work could be done to improve things. This work didn’t happen in isolation, Jason Zander talks of private CTP’s ‘with people who reported issues’ in order to check the work that was being undertaken. How many times have you dismissed the customer feedback programme? Food for thought.

I downloaded my Visual Studio 2010 Ultimate ISO this morning from the MSDN subscribers download. 2308mb came down my BT broadband pipe at rates as high as 840kbs and took around 40mins to complete. Awesome.

Having rebuilt my dev and demo machines with this latest build, I can report that the product team have done a fine job. So far it is all performing well. Although it took quite a while to install!
