    I LOVE ROBOTS: THE RESULTS

The ILOVEROBOTS competition closed on the 8th Feb. Apologies for the delay in letting you know the winners - its been one of those months! We had a good showing of robots which is encouraging. But we had only a few blueprints. Well there you go. I expected a whole lot more blueprints than robots. And honestly, I expected a whole lot more robots too (Micro mouse builders where are you? I know the Midlands has Internet connectivity I was there recently). None the less, we have two superb winners. For...

    MSN USB Missile Launcher

Hey take a look at my latest toy. The MSN USB Missile Launcher from Dream Cheeky. This is not only a super fun USB powered missile launcher but it also includes a USB web cam installed on top. Perfect for playing with BrainTech's Volt-IQ Visual Intelligence SDK and Microsoft Robotics Studio. BrainTech has even built a demo for the missile launcher and with their latest SDK 1.6 include multiple object recognition and face recognition functionality. You have been warned - do not try to sneak up...

    Its coming...

I hope I live to see the day household service droids can be purchased from your local super market (or much more preferably from your non-chain local high street specialist!!).     I have pretty much a dream job now - but my real dream job would be as an owner of a high street household robotic services shop. We'd sell and hire service robots. Do standard and custom modifications to both case design and colour but also specialise in tool, sensor and behaviour enhancements :-)

Interestingly it is currently driven using a standard XBox 360 controller! There are at least two Pentium III computers in there (which seem rather dated!!) And I love Erik Sofge closing remarks regarding...

    Life: humour

Today I spent over 90mins having x-rays taken of my kidneys. Its difficult to see the structure of kidneys in x-rays so a contrast medium is injected into you and you have to have an empty bladder. Towards the end of the 90mins, before the final x-ray was taken, I was asked to 'go and empty my bladder again'; I replied I wasn't sure I could go - having been before the start. Back came the chirpy response from the radiographer - 'Oh yes you can, there's quite a lot in there - I've...
